Youth workers, care workers, refuse collectors, social workers, teaching assistants, community workers, street cleaners and so many more go above and beyond every single day. Local government staff were on the front lines of the Covid-19 crisis – keeping communities safe, clean and accessible during one of the most challenging periods ever seen by local authorities in peacetime. Yet there was little or no recognition for your hard work, only broken promises from a government who initially claimed they would do “whatever is necessary”to support local government.

With the cost of living skyrocketing to new highs every day, it’s no longer enough to state you deserve decent pay for the work you do – you need it.
